Blogger Recognition Award

August 29, 2017

I am so overwhelmed that I was nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award, this past Friday. With my blog only being live a week and a day upon receiving the notification that I was nominated, it truly encourages me and makes me want to keep going. I was nominated by Lydia over at www.liddielooandisadoratoo.wordpress.com.  I feel very honored to be nominated by another Mommy Blogger, like myself. Lydia is from the U.K. And is a young mom to an adorable little two year old named Isadora. I love reading her blog posts journaling the adventures of her and her daughter. She also writes reviews which are so helpful, as many of her reviews are for toddler products, and I myself suddenly have a new toddler on my hands lol. She gives great advice about which products she likes best, and her posts are all well written and organized. She even does book reviews, which I love!

Thank you so much Lydia for my nomination!

What is the Blogger Recognition Award?

The Blogger Recognition Award is an award that is given to awesome bloggers who are devoted to applying their time, research, wisdom, wit, and personality into their amazing blogs.  These bloggers are recognized by fellow bloggers who appreciate their hard work and passion. This impressive and honorable award enables us to connect more readers and fellow bloggers to other phenomenal bloggers by spreading acknowledgment and appreciation for their writing. It’s also an innovative way to lend a helping hand to new bloggers within the blogging community.

How/Why did I start blogging?

I started blogging as a means to share my experiences and research on the things that I'm passionate about. God, family, marriage, children, and natural living. I wanted a way to be able to share these passions while continuing to stay home, homeschooling my children with the potential to bring in some income for my family.

My goal in creating Lil' Olive Tree is to share my journeys in life and the teeny bit of wisdom I've gained along the way. I choose the name "Lil' Olive Tree" because of its biblical symbolism.  David says in Psalm 52:8: "But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever." (KJV). The ESV translation says, "I trust in the steadfast love of God for ever and ever."  God's love is the only love that is unfailing, ever merciful, and full of grace so freely given if we trust in Him and let Him lead our lives.  I want my family to be like an olive tree, with roots firm in His WORD, each of us a branch that grows and learns through scripture each day, and reaps good fruit out in the world by loving and serving others for His name's sake. Glory be to God!  One way to serve others that God has placed on my heart to do is to spread information about how to nourish our lives physically and spiritually, which is where the tagline, "Nourish the Body, Nourish the Soul" comes from.  I hope to help bring like-minded people together for the sake of living healthier, more natural lives, and loving one another.  I look forward to sharing useful information, my experiences, scripture, recipes, homeschool tips, product reviews and recommendations.

My advice to new bloggers

It's hard to give extensive advice to new bloggers or potential bloggers as I'm still so new to this myself; however, the best advice I could give is to find what you are truly passionate about and write about that! Also, be yourself! Don't try to be like anyone else, or write like anyone else. Write like how you would talk to your close friend in a conversation... You can always go back and make edits if you feel your writing got too personal for your comfort.  Personal is good though. I mean you don't have to share all the gory details of every mistake you've ever made in life, but a few personal touches in each post helps make your content relatable. Helps the readers feel connected to you, wanting to know more about you and what it is you have to share. They are likely to visit back to your blog for updates in what's going on in your life and on your blog.
